Information about Traveling to Canada 

An international destination of choice, Montréal is easily accessed by land, water and air. Downtown is a mere 20 minutes from the Pierre-Elliott Trudeau International Airport, which handles 600 flights daily. Don’t forget to ensure you have a valid passport at all times, and in some cases, a visa. American citizens returning home should also be aware that there are new customs requirements in effect . To finish your trip in style, take some time to shop for gifts and souvenirs. Details on the transport of goods can be found on the Canada Border Services Agency website

Public Transportation 

  • Public bus: Featuring 24-hour service, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, the 747 local bus service includes nine stops in each direction, taking approximately 45 to 60 minutes each way depending on traffic. There is a bus stop in front of the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth.  Buses run frequently, are custom-designed to serve the airport, and are handicap-accessible. Furthermore, for a mere $9 (rate for 2013, may increase slightly in 2015) – payable on board (coins only), travelers may enjoy unlimited bus and metro access for a 24-hour period.
  • Taxi:  The current flat fee is $40 CND from the airport to downtown Montréal.  Prices may increase slightly for 2015.
