Support Your Local Chamber Day is October 16

It’s time to celebrate chambers of commerce! Each year, on the third Wednesday of October, Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day is a great opportunity to showcase all the impactful work chambers do in communities across the world. Here are a few ideas to get the word out about our industry’s day on October 16.

Make it official.

Local governments make proclamations about all kinds of things, so why not Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day? Here’s a template you can customize with details about your chamber and community. Make sure to find out how much lead time each governing body needs to get a proclamation on the agenda. It’s typically a few weeks. Don’t forget to attend the meeting to enjoy the official proclamation.

Spread the word.

Connect to the community through stories.

What has your chamber done recently for your community? Pick something with impact and tell the story behind the work. Share the heart of the story to connect with neighbors and stakeholders. Maybe your chamber recently provided funding for upskilling or reskilling local employees. Or perhaps staff members volunteer with local charitable organizations. Choose something that shows the dedication of your staff to the area you serve.

Engage your biggest fans to amplify your message.

Reach out to your most dedicated volunteers. It could include board members, your ambassadors or even the young professionals' group. Make social media graphics to share or use our asset library graphics and ask for shares. Inviting supporters before the actual day to help promote your postings can make a big difference.

Open your doors.

Invite people for a celebration. Host an open house at the office or maybe a member will offer a gathering spot for residents to meet the staff and learn more about what your chamber does.
