  • A plan to convert a former Milwaukee hospital into 100 affordable apartments received preliminary approval for affordable housing tax credits from the state housing and economic development authority. The project was proposed by the Milwaukee Development Corporation, a subsidiary of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce.
  • The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce and Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission have teamed up to launch and promote a small business tariff response fund to small enterprises during the ongoing tariff war with the United States.
  • More than 40 business and community leaders participated in the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber’s annual DC Fly-In to discuss the federal issues that are impacting the local region. The agenda covered trade and tarrifs, along with immigration, agriculture and artificial intelligence.
  • In a recent op-ed, Savannah Area Chamber President & CEO Bert Brantley outlined the need for more affordable housing and called for a coordinated, regional approach to bring together local governments, developers, utility providers, and economic development leaders to align zoning, streamline permitting and invest in infrastructure that supports housing where it’s most needed.
  • The Wichita Falls Chamber will be taking the lead on economic development efforts for the downtown area moving forward, creating a growth and redevelopment strategy that is aligned with the community’s vision.
  • The San Angelo Chamber has partnered with the City of San Angelo to conduct a community housing study aimed at shaping the future of local housing development. The study will help guide city leaders, developers and businesses in making informed decisions to meet San Angelo’s evolving housing needs.
  • The Greater Rochester Chamber partnered with Rochester Regional Health to support the health care network’s efforts to recruit and hire experienced, international nurses, with the hope that they will stay in the community permanently.  
  • The Greater Omaha Chamber reimagined its workforce efforts and created its new Workforce Excellence Department. This team will focus on talent recruitment and retention in the Greater Omaha region and support positive work environments among current employers. Existing initiatives will fall under this new department and future programming and employer partnerships are in the works.
