Increase Non-Dues Revenue Through the Power of Text

Think about when you text a friend or spouse about what to do tonight. You receive a text about an event this evening in your neighborhood. Is there a better place for that message to arrive?
That message came to the same place you were already having a conversation about that same topic.
“Texting has been a benefit of sponsorship. Anytime we sell a sponsorship, we offer the sponsor to include their name or website in the text,” said Angela Hoffman of the Stuart/Martin County Chamber of Commerce in Stuart, Florida. “Text has definitely increased attendance at events and has been a nice benefit for presenting sponsors.”
Looking at open rates on emails and realizing that a bulk of members and non-members in email databases are not opening emails in time for the event is a significant problem that must be addressed.
Job fairs, golf tournaments, travel and auctions are just a few common experiences that drive member and non-member participation. Allowing your non-member community to text in with a keyword to tell you they want to receive more information about a particular experience is an extremely powerful way to generate both non-dues revenue and new membership interest. Once the event or experience begins, text communication allows you to offer attendees to text in for a map, schedule for the day, engage with a survey during or after and many more functionalities that create a powerful combination via text utilization.
To increase event attendance and sponsorships via text, chambers don't need to reinvent the wheel or come up with entirely new content - you already have the content! You can add non-dues revenue to your chamber with just a couple of texts each week, and anyone in your texting program has the option to opt in or opt out of the messages.
