Serving Members Through Data

The Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce (Kan.) is a data-driven chamber. In fact, key metrics align with each of the chamber’s six priority areas featured in its most recent strategic plan. The chamber utilizes Accrisoft for its email marketing, website, membership database and event management, ensuring staff can track those metrics to show movement toward the organization’s goals.
“All of those components talk to each other, so we’re able to streamline some staff work in some ways that we wouldn’t be able to if we had all of that information in separate places,” said Rebecca Saxton, the chamber’s director of data operations. Saxton further explained that the chamber can track member interactions with the organization on a different level. That information is utilized to better interact with members and target next steps for serving them.
Chambers can capture lots of different data points, but Saxton recommends a focused approach. “Take some time and sit and think about what information would be beneficial for your chamber so that you can continue to serve your members the best,” she said. In Wichita, staff concentrates on data related to key metrics in the strategic plan that push the chamber toward achieving their most recent goals.
Using Accrisoft gives the Wichita Regional Chamber a way to provide tangible member benefits, too. “We know as a chamber that the majority of our members are small businesses. Trying to provide services to meet their needs is really important,” Saxton explained. One way the chamber does this is through a small business resource page, created over the last year. One section of the page includes a video library with on-demand programming. Because the membership database and website are both through Accrisoft, the chamber can make these videos accessible to members only. “We see the need for programming and resources for our small businesses, and this is just one way that we’ve responded to that,” she said.
The Wichita Regional Chamber continues to work on new benefits for its members, working in the members only portal with Accrisoft. Saxton said Accrisoft has been able to grow alongside the chamber, providing flexibility and being responsive to the organization’s needs. “Having Accrisoft as a total software solution, housing a whole bunch of different realms under one big umbrella has been super helpful for us,” she said.
