ARS Resources

Alliance for Regional StewardshipAs the nation's leading voice for and advisor to regional initiatives, the Alliance for Regional Stewardship (ARS) is constantly examining the diverse contexts for regional problem solving, the changing nature of regional leadership and regional structure, the role and character of civic entrepreneurs and catalysts, and the lessons learned from both success and failure in regions around the country.

Since its inception a decade ago, ARS has regularly published monographs on topics of interest to regional stewards, such as community decision-making, leadership development, regional governance, and more. These monographs are classic learning tools for those interested in regional stewardship. They are detailed, insider reports on the mechanics of regional cooperation with tons of "how-to" information that every chamber executive can use. The entire series of monographs is available for download free to members of ARS and ACCE.

Regional Sustainable Development Fellowship - Regional Action Projects

With the generous support of the Ford Foundation and assistance from ARS, the Regional Sustainable Development Fellowship completed the three year educational program. The Fellowship provided hands-on training, peer knowledge exchange, research and examination of working models on a wide-range of sustainability issues, such as: infrastructure, land use, environmental stewardship, social inclusion, workforce development, and education.  Participants left with a deeper understanding of regional thinking, strategies and opportunities.

As part of this unique and exclusive 12-month program, fellows must complete a Regional Action Project. Click here to see several examples of Regional Action Projects.
