NACOS Becomes ACCE

The board of directors of the National Association of Commercial Organization Secretaries voted unanimously in 1948 to change the association’s name to American Chamber of Commerce Executives. In 1949, the first three issues of the association’s monthly newsletter, NACOS News, still carried the old name and masthead with the added notation “Published by American Chamber of Commerce Executives.” Change came with the April 1949 issue. It sported a new name and masthead “The American Chamber of Commerce Executive,” with “Executive” the dominant word. A page 2 story announced that the name change was taking place on the 28th anniversary of NACOS News.
