Rendez-vous avec ACCE à Montréal!

I hope your summer is off to a fantastic start! As with every summer, it is time to remind you to make plans to attend the annual ACCE Convention taking place in Montréal on August 11-14. To register and find more information on the convention, please go here. In addition to visiting the fabulous bilingual city of Montréal, attendees will learn, network and celebrate with other chamber professionals. I also invite you to join us for the Membership Development Division (MDD) meeting taking place on Tuesday, August 11 at 6 p.m., just prior to the Welcome Party at 7 p.m. This is a great time to connect with peers, socialize and learn what other membership folks are doing to grow their chambers.

Whether or not you plan to join us in Montréal, I invite you to check out the resources available to you on the MDD page here. You can listen to the last two roundtable conference calls on social media and membership retention, as well as review handouts from various sessions presented at the ACCE Sales Training Conference that took place this past March in San Diego.

If there is any information not found on these pages that you would like to see, please give me a call or send me an email. We want these resources to be living web pages that you rely on for current information and tips to help you grow membership.

ACCE Convention gets underway in 2 weeks!

We hope you're getting excited for convention! This year's event will feature rich and varied programming for membership professionals, including sessions on networking, membership marketing strategies, engaging with members on-line, distinctive chamber events, chamber websites, and much more. More about the convention programs can be found here. You can also take a look at this handy Membership Programming handout.

The Membership Development Division meeting will be held at the beginning of the Convention, on Tuesday, August 11, from 6-7 p.m. at the Ovation room of the Hyatt Regency Montréal. We'll go from there to our fabulous Convention Welcome Party at New City Gas, one of the city's premier concert venues and event spaces. For more information, visit the convention website. Roundtable Calls: Topics and Facilitators Needed!

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our May and June Peer to Peer roundtable calls. Recordings of both calls can be found on our Membership Development Division page.

We are planning additional roundtable calls for 2015-16, so please contact Susan McGuire if you have ideas for topics or would like to facilitate a call.

Facilitators should be prepared to introduce a topic with ideas and insights from their own experience (about 5 or 10 minutes of discussion), and then moderate a discussion of the topic among all participants, encouraging their ideas and questions. We look forward to interesting and engaging peer to peer discussions starting in fall 2015.


CCEGot CCE?  

Remember that the learning and networking you do at ACCE (including convention, sales training, and webinar participation), all count towards earning your Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) designation: the only national certification for chamber professionals. For more information on how you can become one of the select few to attain this prestigious certification, check out our CCE website page or contact Susan McGuire at smcguire@acce.org. The application deadline for our 2016 class is January 8, 2016.


New! Formation of MDD Peer Groups

We are interested in possibly creating several small membership development professional peer groups, of 5 or 6 people each, to talk and share regularly about issues of interest. These discussions would not be facilitated by an ACCE staff member or MDD board member, but would take place, likely by phone, on a schedule and on topics of mutual interest to each group.

If you are already a member of such a peer group, we would be grateful for your input on how best to initiate and support this program. Please contact Susan! And if you are interested in joining a group, please let us know as well. We'll be discussing this idea more at our MDD Convention meeting and will update you all as it takes further shape.

We are interested in supporting your work in whatever way is most useful to you, so, as always, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us with your ideas and feedback.


Circle of Champions Programs

Sales Contest Winners

Congratulations to the winners of our 2014-15 Circle of Champions Sales Contest. Thank you to everyone who participated, and congratulations to everyone on your terrific sales this year.

A new Sales Contest year has begun!

We invite all Circle of Champions members to participate in our 2015-16 Sales Contest. Here are the deadlines:

  • First quarter (June 1- Aug. 31) - Sept. 8, 2015
  • Second quarter (Sept. 1- Nov. 30) - Dec. 7, 2015
  • Third quarter (Dec. 1- Feb. 28) - March 7, 2016
  • Fourth quarter (March 1- May 31) - June 6, 2016

You can post your first quarter numbers, due Sept. 8, 2015, using this link. Remember that you need to join the Circle of Champions to participate in the Sales Contest. To join, please fill out the on-line form, or contact Susan McGuire at smcguire@acce.org.

Lifetime Achievement Awards

Welcome  

We are pleased to announce that Jane Trenchard Backes of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC) has joined the MDD Advisory Board as a member of the Sales Committee. Jane is in membership development for the MMAC's membership services team, and has been part of the membership services team for ten years. She joined the MMAC with more than a decade of experience in advertising, sales, and marketing, and is a Circle of Champions Lifetime Sales Achievement Award Silver and Gold recipient. Welcome, Jane!

ACCE launched the Horizon Initiative Task Force to tap into collective chamber wisdom and other resources to predict how your organization might evolve over the coming decade. You can take a look at the video presentation of this initiative by ACCE President Mick Fleming, or download the entire report and the new Chambers 2025 workbook from the Horizons 2025 web page.
