Dear ACCE Membership Development Division members,

Good afternoon! Below please find some sales and membership development information that you may find useful.

Message from MDD Advisory Board:

Creating an “Everybody sells” Culture

Are all your chamber team members focused on revenue results? Are all collaborating to grow membership and retain members? Not just your sales team, but everyone in your organization? Is your entire staff armed with your sales collateral, pricing, and packages so they can sell all products you offer? If you’ve answered “no” to any of these questions, you may be missing out.

Consider the compounding effect of having more of you. At our chamber, all chamber staff are entrepreneurial and empowered, resulting in increased sales and higher retention. All staff are alert to sales opportunities and are our number one referral source for new members. They can close a member sale or simply refer it to our chamber sales team to close. Either way, we reward and recognize our resourceful non-sales team staff. We honor the top three “sales leaders” outside of our sales team at each staff meeting. It’s engaging, fun, and a little competitive among staff. There’s a whole lot of clapping and “woo hooing,” and prizes for our top three.

I am sure most, if not all, of your chamber staff interact with members and outside businesses. Whether it’s a new member opportunity, an existing member with potential to advertise, a potential new sponsor, or a local business simply deciding if they’ll invest for another year of membership, our sales team can’t take advantage of every opportunity. It takes our entire organization and starts at the top. Our CEO sells his vision, our volunteers sell our mission, and our staff executes to achieve outstanding revenue results. Everybody sells!

Best wishes,

Gina Martens
Senior Vice President, Member Relations
Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce
