Incorporating Equity in Strategic Planning Workshop | Part 2

Date: March 30, 2021Time: 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm (ET) Contact: Amy ShieldsPhone: 703-998-3530Email: ashields@acce.org

In this two-part workshop, chamber executives will learn more about focusing on equity within their organization and how to translate this focus to strategic planning. This workshop will be delivered in two parts:

Part 1 | Equity as an Economic Imperative | REGISTER HERE
Thursday, March 25, 3:00 - 4:30 pm ET
Presented by Kuma Roberts, Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Tulsa Regional Chamber

In 2011, the Tulsa Regional Chamber launched Mosaic, a business diversity council focused on presenting the business case for diversity and inclusion to its members. By 2018, however, Mosaic’s efforts had plateaued. Leaders realized the organization was only looking at diversity and inclusion, and equity was missing from the conversation.

This session will focus on how and why Mosaic transitioned to an equity-focused coalition of companies and nonprofits striving to cultivate a more diverse, inclusive and equitable community. Participants will gain clarity on the challenges of D&I without equity and understand why equity is important for membership and business organizations. The session will also cover approaches for incorporating equity when approaching communities of color and provide tips for how to partner for more equity in your chamber.

Part 2 | Placing Equity at the Center of Your Chamber | REGISTER HERE
Tuesday, March 30, 3:00 - 4:30 pm ET
Presented by Kuma Roberts, Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Tulsa Regional Chamber

This session takes your chamber's conversations about equity to the next level - your strategic plan. What does it look like to infuse equity into your work? What tools and resources are available to support these efforts? Where should chambers begin?

During this session, participants will receive an overview of the ProInspire model "Awake to Woke to Work" that breaks down the phases of becoming an equity-centered organization. Attendees will understand the levers they can engage to embed equity into their work and learn more about relevant and real examples of how the Tulsa Regional Chamber is approaching this work. This session will include breakout time for discussion and idea sharing.

This workshop is designed for chamber CEOs and other senior leaders who participate in strategic planning processes. To participate in both days of this workshop, please register individually for each session. Once you register, you will receive an email from Zoom with details on how to join the meeting.
