2018 ACE Award of Excellence
The goal of this campaign was to make sure important school tax renewals on the ballot passed, and hopefully, in a big way, so there would be no doubt our citizens support public education. This sends a strong message to companies looking at the Huntsville/Madison County area as a possible location and companies located here now as they look to recruit that our community cares about funding schools.
2018 ACE Award of Excellence
The leaders of 25 metropolitan chambers of commerce from Canada, the United States and Mexico gathered in Montreal today in anticipation of the next round of NAFTA negotiations. The goal of this meeting was to clearly identify the issues surrounding the renewal of NAFTA, to understand the risks for businesses in the event of the current negotiations' failure, and especially to send a clear message to the three governments on the importance of an updated agreement and maintaining open access to the entire North American market. At the end of this meeting, all chambers present signed a joint statement stressing the importance of maintaining the North American Free Trade Agreement for the economies of the three countries and their cities. 2018 Chamber of the Year, Category 3 Winner
In 2017, Plano Chamber expanded and enhanced our advocacy efforts in preparation for a challenging legislative session for our business community. Property tax reform was a hot topic and one possible solution was to shift more of the burden to businesses. The bathroom bill was also being debated in both chambers. Key outcomes included a more robust legislative agenda, successful member education on vital issues facing the legislature, increased dialogue between the membership and elected officials, defeat of three bills that would have negatively impacted our membership, and a post-session scorecard that increased awareness on key votes taken by House and Senate members.

Pearland Citizens for Economic Freedom is an organized movement to remove the alcohol-sales restriction on businesses in Pearland. The purpose of the petition is to get a local-option election on the ballot in May 2016 to allow the legal sale of all alcohol, including mixed beverages, within the city limits. Passing this measure will bring more entertainment, commerce, and tax revenue to Pearland.
