This Business Continuity Plan has been developed to prepare Chamber employees in the event of a disaster or business disruption, mitigate potential damage or loss, establish the proper response to the event and shorten the recovery period after a disaster or business disruption.
In 2013, Calgary experienced major flooding, causing the most expensive natural disaster in Canadian history. In the immediacy of the situation, the Calgary Chamber responded to support affected businesses by providing information, coordinating recovery efforts, and by helping promote the city once flood cleanup was complete. Since the floods, the Chamber has focused on preparedness and worked with Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) to create this business preparedness handbook.
