Model Policies and Procedures for Not-For-Profit Organizations

by Edward J. McMillan, CPA, CAE

Not-for-profit executives are held accountable for every aspect of their organization, from legal issues, marketing, lobbying, and editorial functions to membership operations, budgeting, and of course, finance. Yet it is impossible for any one executive to give all of these areas all of the attention they need, all of the time. The smooth operation of the organization depends on the development of clear and effective policies and procedures that both reflect the executive’s vision and allow employees to practice them successfully. Edward McMillan’s revised and expanded Model Policies and Procedures for Not-for-Profit Organizations helps executives both strengthen their organization’s financial procedures and assure board members that they are meeting fiduciary responsibilities. Click on the Amazon book cover to select your preferred book format (i.e. print or ebook).

Born to Build

by Jim Clifton, Ph.D. and Sangeeta Badal

People will ask you throughout your life, “Where do you work?” and “What do you do?” They never ask you, “What are you building?”

When conversations change to “What are you building?” the world will change.

Written for anyone trying to figure out how to make the most of their lives, Born to Build seeks to inspire entrepreneurs and ambitious, self-motivated people to build something that will change the world. A builder’s venture could be a small business that grows into a mammoth enterprise, a thriving new division in an existing company, a nonprofit, a social enterprise, a church, a school — anything that creates economic growth and makes a lasting impact on society.

by Eric P. Canada

Members of the team interact with the full range of economic development clients. They lead important projects. What they don’t know about economic development can limit or even derail success.

Equally important, Board members and political leaders make decisions that push economic development forward or add drag. Their personal frame of reference for economic development is often narrow or completely lacking. Team covers the fundamentals of economic development, our clients, programs, and issues. Stories and visuals make concepts relatable. It is packed with terms and a glossary serving as a quick source on the language of the field.
