Ideally, CEO performance is measured against a strategic plan, budget and achieving the mission of the organization. Some organizations like to have a template for performance measurement. These questions are rated on a scale from "strongly agree" to "strongly disagree."
The Calgary Chamber Board has delegated the task of approving annual goals and evaluating annual performance of the President and CEO to the Governance and HR Committee. The role of the Committee in the evaluation of the President and CEO of the Calgary Chamber is to ensure annual strategic goals are delivered as set and provide valuable insight and direction to the President and CEO on areas of growth. This tool provides a method to evaluate the chamber's president and CEO in the following categories: vision/governance; fiscal responsibility; relations with members, the community, and the board of directors; judgment/decision-making; culture; reliability; initiative; and creativity.
This form is used by the chamber president to list the year's accomplishments, problems and concerns. The president and the board then rate the president's performance in each of nine areas, with finances and membership weighted most heavily.
