Skip Alford has been tapped to lead the South Dade (FL) Chamber of Commerce. Alford, a Florida Certified Chamber Professional by the Florida Association of Chamber Professionals, was formerly director of membership at the Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce.
Ted Allison, CEcD, is the new president and CEO of the Stillwater (OK) Chamber of Commerce. Prior to assuming this new position, Allison was president and CEO of the St. Joseph (MO) Metro Chamber of Commerce for six years, during which the organization achieved a five-star rating from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Allison has also served as president and CEO of the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce for 11 years.
The Lake Houston (TX) Area Chamber recently named Jenna Armstrong as the organization’s new CEO, replacing Charlie Dromgoole, CCE, as he transitions into retirement. Dromgoole will serve as senior vice president of the Economic Development Partnership for the remainder of the year. Armstrong joined the Lake Houston Area Chamber staff in 2007 as the communications director, and then moved on to serve as vice president and eventually president and chief operations officer. Her 12-year chamber career began in 2003 at the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce.
Michael Dalby, CCE, longtime ACCE Board member and former FBI Chairman, has accepted the president and CEO position at the Greater Naples (FL) Chamber of Commerce. Dalby, who most recently was president and CEO at the Columbus (OH) Chamber of Commerce, has led chambers of commerce in New Mexico, Texas, and Indiana.
In March, Joe Reardon took the reins of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce to serve as its new president and CEO. Reardon, who previously led the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority and was a two-term mayor of Kansas City, Kan., succeeds Jim Heeter who retired after leading the chamber since 2010.
The Columbus Chamber of Commerce named Don DePerro as its president and CEO, succeeding Michael Dalby, CCE. DePerro has been publisher of Columbus Business First for 20 years. He started his career as a reporter in Buffalo, N.Y., with American City Business Journals.
The Palatine (IL) Area Chamber of Commerce selected Steven Gaus to be its new executive director. Gaus was most recently the president of the Bensenville Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
Noelle Lotano was named CEO of New Jersey’s Greater Toms River Chamber of Commerce. Lotano joins the chamber as a 30-year resident of the area with more than 15 years of small business ownership experience.
Industry consultant and former chamber executive Annette Medlin is the new president of the Corpus Christi (TX) Chambers of Commerce. She has more than 20 years’ experience in nonprofit management and 12 years working with chambers. She was on the faculty of the U.S. Chamber Institute for Organization Management and previously served as president and CEO of the Georgetown County (SC) Chamber of Commerce.
Matt Pivarnik, CCE is Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce and Go Topeka’s new president and CEO. Pivarnik, a former ACCE board member and current CCE commissioner, was previously executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Tulsa (OK) Regional Chamber.
Chris Romer, president & CEO of the Vail Valley Partnership, was named one of 25 honorees for the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International’s (HSMAI) Top 25: Extraordinary Minds in Hospitality Sales, Marketing, & Revenue Optimization.
Retired Maj. Gen. Rodney O. Anderson has been named president of the Greater Fayetteville (N.C.) Chamber. Anderson, who retired from the Army in 2012, had served in the U.S. Army for 33 years. He was previously deputy commanding general of Fort Bragg and the 18th Airborne Corps. The Elloree, South Carolina native succeeds Doug Peters, IOM, a 28-year chamber professional who is now president and CEO of the Abilene (TX) Chamber of Commerce.
Michael F. O’Sullivan has taken the helm of the Rensselaer County (NY) Regional Chamber of Commerce. O’Sullivan is the former publisher of The (Troy) Record and The Saratogian. He succeeds Linda Hillman, who announced in June that she would be stepping down after 15 years in the position.
Greater Reading (PA) Chamber of Commerce and Industry president and CEO and former ACCE board member Ellen Horan, CCE, has announced that she will be stepping down from her post, after serving the organization since 2005.
ACCE’s Communications Director and editor-in-chief of Chamber Executive magazine, Brad Holt, retired from his position in December to pursue a new phase of life, enjoying new adventures in a new state. In his five years with ACCE—preceded by nearly 35 years in association management and a career as a reporter at the Washington Star newspaper—Holt deftly steered ACCE’s communication department through an organizational rebrand, centennial commemoration and new website launch and played a significant role editing the Horizon Initiative report.
The chamber of commerce community mourns the passing of Phil A. Neighbors, CCE, president and CEO of the San Angelo (TX) Chamber of Commerce. Neighbors died Wednesday, Feb. 3. He was 64 years old. Neighbors began his chamber career in 1976 at the Abilene-based West Texas Chamber of Commerce. He served as vice president of the Kerrville Chamber of Commerce, then as the president of the San Marcos Chamber for more than a decade. He became president and CEO of the San Angelo Chamber in 2006.
“Few people have the levels of both professional capacity and kindness that Phil brought to the job,” said ACCE president Mick Fleming. “He’ll be missed by colleagues in Texas and across the country.”
