A New Way to be In This Together

Published Thursday, December 8, 2011 7:00 am

At the urging of members from around the country, ACCE’s Community Growth Educational Foundation (CGEF) has established dedicated funding streams for memorial scholarships in the names of Mike Hauser, CCE, and Shelia Lee, CCE. These scholarships will allow others who are devoted to chamber work a chance to grow in the job, become CCEs and maybe become mentors to other chamber professionals just as Mike and Sheila did.

If you're a CCE, you’ve committed a great deal of time and effort to your personal development and to the professionalism of chamber work. The In This Together (ITT) campaign leadership would like to ask for a little more, for your support of this new scholarship program named in honor of fellow CCEs Mike Hauser and Shelia Lee. We were proud of our contributors last year. We exceeded our goals for the ITT strategic funding campaign. But while we surpassed our dollar target, we didn’t involve as many members as we had hoped. It seemed the few came through on behalf of the many. Of course, not everyone was able to pledge last year. Today there are still two years to go on the campaign, and we have a creative way for you to participate in the ITT initiative while contributing to this very special cause.

Mike and Shelia had many personal friends in the chamber world. They were mentors to hundreds of chamber professionals. Each invested countless hours and dollars toward building national resources to help chamber leaders everywhere. Scholarships in their names make sense, and you can help make it happen. Your pledge or check to the scholarship funds will also ensure that you are listed among the ITT campaign contributors. A commitment of any size to these scholarship funds is a welcome gift that will help young chamber professionals learn more and advance their careers. Contributions to the foundation are tax deductible,* as well as a permitted action for most chamber-led foundations. ACCE will work with you to arrange a convenient fulfillment schedule over two years. In case you are prepared to make an organizational pledge, you can find the In This Together campaign’s larger goals at www.acce.org/together.

 * Contributions to CGEF [a qualified 501(c)(3) entity] are normally tax deductible. Please consult your tax advisor.
