Jim Anderson, CCE, President of the Springfield (MO) Area Chamber, announced at a board meeting on Wednesday that he will retire from the chamber this summer. He has served in that role since 1988. Before joining the Springfield Chamber, Jim served for nine years as president of the Jefferson City (MO) Area Chamber. He began his career as a teacher in the Jefferson City Public Schools.
Dedicated service to the industry has been a hallmark of Jim’s career. He served as ACCE Chairman in 1994, was board of regents chairman for the Institute for Organizational Management’s SMU Campus, sat on the national board of trustees for IOM and currently serves as a Trustee for ACCE’s Benefits Trust. He has also earned many of the profession’s highest accolades including IOM certification, CCE designation, the ACCE Chairman’s Award in 1992 and ACCE Chamber of the Year in 2012. Add those to an honorary doctorate, a Missouri State distinguished alumni award, the Springfieldian Award, the Missourian Award and you’ve got quite an impressive trophy cabinet for such a humble guy.
