The Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) is pleased to announce the 2014 Regional Innovation Award Winners:
Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce - Economic and Business Development Initiatives
Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce - Education and Workforce Development Initiatives
The Regional Innovation Award program recognizes organizations committed to building strong and vibrant communities through groundbreaking collaboration and program development. The program celebrates organizations that are regional pioneers, focusing their efforts on the four principles of regional stewardship: an innovative economy, livable communities, social inclusion, and a collaborative style of governance.
The Dallas Regional Chamber received the award for its Dallas Entrepreneur Center. The Greater Austin Chamber received the award for their high school-to-college enrollment programs.
The awards were presented during ACCE’s centennial convention in Cincinnati August 12-15. A panel of judges comprised of previous ARS award winners and ACCE board members selected six finalists in two categories: Economic and Business Development, and Education and Workforce Initiatives.
The Regional Innovation Award is an annual national competition established by ACCE’s Alliance for Regional Stewardship (ARS). This year, the awards program was administered by ACCE’s Education Attainment Division, and encouraged applicants to highlight initiatives that promote an innovative economy by building a better equipped workforce.
"To help their communities address challenges and seize opportunities, chambers of commerce must convene diverse stakeholders, develop new strategies and work across boundaries," said Mick Fleming, ACCE president. "The winners of the 2014 Regional Innovation Award exemplify the kind of civic entrepreneurship and stewardship all regions need to thrive."
