It's time to celebrate chambers of commerce. This observance also provides an opportunity to elevate your chamber’s story. 

Encourage members to share how chamber involvement has supported their success and invite them to help recruit new members. The resources below are designed to support your outreach efforts and highlight the enduring value chambers bring to their communities.

How to Request a Proclamation 

• Identify the issuing office
  Proclamations are typically issued by your mayor, city council, county commission, or governor’s office. Start with your local government website to find submission details.

• Prepare your request

  • Provide a draft proclamation (many offices ask you to supply language). Here is a template.

  • Include the date of observance (Chamber of Commerce Day, 10/15/25).

  • Share a brief explanation of why the recognition matters to your community.

  • Add your chamber’s contact information for follow-up.

• Submit your request
  Many offices have an online form; others require email or mailed submissions. If unsure, call the office directly to confirm their process.

• Allow sufficient lead time

  • Local proclamations (mayor/city council/county): 3–4 weeks in advance.

  • State proclamations (governor): 6–8 weeks in advance.
    The earlier the better — some offices only review proclamations monthly.

• Plan for presentation
  Request that the proclamation be presented at a public meeting, or schedule a photo opportunity with local officials. This creates great content to share on social media and in your chamber newsletter.
