Education and Talent
We must adequately prepare our students for post-secondary education attainment and 21st century careers. Chambers of commerce can lead collaborative efforts in their communities to address pressing education and workforce development needs and make a measurable impact.
ACCE's Education & Talent Development Division (ETD) exists to help address the business community's desire to transform education, fulfill workforce need and build thriving communities. ETD programming includes:
Fellowship Program: A year-long, immersive program that assists chamber executives as they mobilize efforts to improve the cradle-to-career talent pipeline in their communities. Amidst the COVID pandemic, we shifted this program to focus on inclusive economic growth and recovery, but the curriculum still features a strong focus on talent development.
Peer Learning Programming: A wide variety of opportunities for chamber professionals to learn from one another, including an education and talent development-focused track at ACCE’s Annual Convention, monthly roundtable calls, webinars, case studies, toolkits and digital resources.
ETD Annual Meeting: A two-day convening of chamber professionals who focus on education and talent development to discuss challenges, solve problems and address systemic barriers.
Technical Assistance and National Connections: A national network of partners that allows ETD staff to connect interested chambers with national experts on issues like education and talent development, skills training, social-emotional learning, out-of-school time and more.
Chamber Support for Prenatal-to-Three Efforts
An investment in infants, toddlers and their families is an investment in the entire community. Supporting children in their earliest years can ensure bright futures, not just for them, but for communities, the workforce and the economy. Chambers of commerce are working in this area to ensure a robust future for your city, region and state. Learn more and access resources to get started.
Premium Content: Building Resilient Talent Pipeline
As communities look at strategies for economic recovery and long-term resilience, building the right workforce pipeline for the future should be top of mind. The pandemic has accelerated automation and other technology solutions that businesses have deployed, and communities may be facing significant shifts in their labor market demands. While record-low unemployment is no longer an issue, communities may lack workers with the right skills to carry their economies into the future. This session reviews data on how labor markets are projected to change post-COVID-19 and how chambers can help their communities get ahead of these trends.
