I-75 Growth Corridor Video: State Map - West Chester Liberty Chamber Alliance

2015 ACE: Award of Excellence

Our chamber represents the townships of West Chester and Liberty, located along I-75 nearly midway between Dayton and Cincinnati, and as our region continues to develop, our chamber's sphere of influence expands. Our I-75 Growth Corridor video depicts the new growth and development along Interstate 75 between Dayton and Cincinnati. We created the video to fill a marketing need. We felt this area of development in southwestern Ohio was relatively unknown, and we wanted to educate and inform business professionals about the outstanding economic development opportunities in our region. We also wanted to strengthen our brand awareness while maximizing a return on investment for our members.

I-75 Growth Corridor Video: State Map - West Chester Liberty Chamber Alliance

Synopsis:

The Power of Interstate 75

I-75 was planned in the 1950’s and opened in southwestern Ohio in 1960. It is the 7th longest interstate highway in the U.S. extending north to south from the Ontario border to Miami, FL. I-75 passes through six states; Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan. It is one the heaviest traveled interstate systems in the nation.

I-75 connects our two major markets, Greater Cincinnati, OH to Dayton, OH, total population of 3 million people with a workforce of more than 2 million. Combined, it is the 15th largest metropolitan area in the country – see red circle on attached circle map. A key area of new commercial growth is the I-75 Growth Corridor – green circle on map, focusing on our suburban communities encompassing four counties; Butler and Warren in the middle flanked by Hamilton (Cincinnati) to the south and Montgomery (Dayton) to the north – an area of 25 miles along I-75 between I-275 to the south and I-675 to the north. This key area of development is within 600 miles of 54% of the U.S. population and 56% of its buying power.

West Chester and Liberty Townships

West Chester and Liberty Townships – 20 miles from Cincinnati and 25 from Dayton, straddle I-75 with emerging central business districts in both townships – blue circle on map. With a population of more than 100,000 and 3000+ businesses, we have become the epicenter for business growth and the catalyst for connecting Cincinnati to Dayton. Here’s why:

  • Union Centre Boulevard (UCB) was built in a record 8 months in West Chester in 1997 which opened up 3000 acres of (former) farm land for commercial development. UCB was the first new interchange constructed on I-75 in southwestern Ohio since I-75’s inception in 1960. Soon after UCB started to develop its commercial base, three additional interchanges to the north on I-75 were constructed:
    • Butler County Regional Highway (BCRH) was built and opened in 1999 providing access from Hamilton, OH (Butler’s county seat) to I-75 – 11 miles of direct east-west access.
    • Just south of BCRH, Liberty Way (LW) opened in 2009 providing 600 acres for new commercial development and the emergence of Liberty’s Central Business District.
    • North of LW and BCRH, Austin Boulevard (AB) opened in 2011 in Montgomery County, south of Dayton – yellow circle on map. 400 acres quickly became available for new commercial development. Dayton’s media has dubbed AB as Dayton’s version of UCB.

Columbus, OH, Indianapolis, IN, Louisville and Lexington, KY are all less than a two hour drive from West Chester and Liberty, more than doubling the potential customer outreach for our businesses – see attached Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana map. We have quickly become a destination location.

The Video

The U.S. Census has indicated that in 2017 Cincinnati and Dayton will be listed as one Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), similar to Dallas-Ft. Worth and Minneapolis-St. Paul. Interstate 75, which extends from Canada to Florida, connects the Cincinnati-Dayton markets, which together are the 15th largest metropolitan area in the U.S., with a total population of 3 million and a workforce exceeding 2 million. With continued development of the I-75 Growth Corridor, Cincinnati-Dayton is predicted to be a future top 10 metropolitan area.

The video was produced to market a key area of economic development in our region, the I-75 Growth Corridor. It has been utilized by developers to attract new businesses and expand their clients existing foot print. Its impact is enhanced by the large number of new projects that are under construction along the I-75 Growth Corridor.
